The oil seed rape is nearing the time to be harvested. I thought you might like one last picture or two! Even though it has been flattened in places by the rain - we are hoping to combine soon.
Why poultry discussion? Well we are chicken farmers and all too often when we talk with family and friends we start with talking about chickens then end up talking about anything from food and food safety, climate change, wildlife, birds, our farm. We started this blog to communicate what we are finding out about the world around us and how we try to farm in a sustainable way so that our farm is here not only for ourselves and our neighbours but for the future too.

Our oilseed rape is ready but the combine has got stuck in the wet fields due to all the rain and flooding in the Yorkshire area.

With the rain that we have had in Herefordshire in many places only four wheel drive combines are getting around the fields. I was near Doncaster yesterday and saw field upon field of crops devastated by the flooding!
